Hello, my name is AJ and I am on a mission to slowly, but surely replace my entire closet with home-sewn clothing.
I was introduced to sewing 10-15 years ago when I was interested in cosplay, but didn’t start taking it seriously and making my everyday clothing until the last couple of years. I started learning about the fast fashion industry and how its negative impacts are affecting the environment and less fortunate communities around the globe. I decided that I wanted to avoid being a part of the problem and began taking sewing more seriously.
I started this blog so that other people who also want to sew their own wardrobe will have the resources they need to get started. Sewing is a skill that has largely fallen out of fashion, and I know it can be daunting for anyone who doesn’t know where to start.
In addition to giving new sewists the resources they need to get started creating their own garments, I’m also focused on sustainability in the sewing hobby. I’ve been researching many different kinds of fabrics and how to purchase them sustainably and how to sew and finish seams in ways that are high quality and sustainable. I’ve also been learning about how to really take care of garments to help them last longer.
