Tutorial: Fox Fleece Hat
Learn how to make this fox-eared fleece hat for this winter season. This is a pretty simple sewing project that only requires half a yard of fabric. It’s great for using up leftover fabric from other projects. Simply check out the free pattern below and get started with the step-by-step tutorial.
Supplies Needed:

(all of my patterns include 1/2″ seam allowance)

Step 1

sew the hat pieces in sets of two
With right side together, sew two sets of hat pieces on one side.

Step 2

sew the ears together
With right sides together, sew the two fox ears.

Step 3

turn the ears to the right side
Trim the seam and turn the ears to the right side.

Step 4

Fold the fox ears and baste
Fold the sides of the fox ears in and baste in place.

Step 5

baste the ears to the top of one of the hat sides
Baste the fox ears to one of the fleece hat pieces close to the center top.

Step 6

sew the two sides of the hat together
With right sides together, sandwich the fox ears and sew along the top seam. Then trim the seam and turn the hat to the right side.

Step 7

fold the band in half and sew
Do this for the lining too

Step 8

sew the band to the band lining
with right sides together, sew the band to the lining along the curved side.

Step 9

turn the band to the right side
trim the seam and turn the band to the right side. You may want top stitch for a neater finish

Step 10


sew the band to the hat
Lining up raw edges, sew the band around the hat. Then trim the seam and press the band down.
