Tutorial: How to Make a 4-Petal Fabric Flower
In this tutorial I’ll teach you how to make a simple 4-petal flower using lightweight scraps of fabric. This will take you less than 10 minutes to make, and you can use the flower for a hair clip, brooch, bouquet, or just about any other time of decoration or accessory. These quick flowers are great for decorations that give your home or outfit a touch of spring. The pattern I included will help you get the shape of the flowers like mine, but you can adjust the shape to make your petals look unique too.

Supplies Needed:
(all of my patterns include 1/2″ seam allowance)
Step 1

sew front and back to make two sets
When sewing together, be sure to leave a gap so you can turn it to the right side. This is to prevent the edges of the flower from fraying, if you are using a fabric that does not fray, you can skip this step.

Step 2

Trim the seam allowance and turn to right side
Press the petals flat.
Step 3

overlap the petals in a cross and sew around the center
Hand sew a long basting stitch around the center, overlapped section of the petals.

Step 4

Gather the base of the flower
Pull the thread to gather the base of the flower petals.

Step 5

Glue the flower to a hair clip
Hot glue is usually the best type of adhesive for this.

Finished!
