Tutorial: How to Make Fleece Mittens
Learn how to make cozy fleece mittens to keep your hands nice and warm this winter. I like to wear these mittens over top of another pair of gloves as an extra layer of warmth, so they are quite roomy and should be able to fit larger hands as well. You can download the pattern below and follow along with the easy step-by-step tutorial.
Supplies Needed:
(all of my patterns include 1/2″ seam allowance)

Step 1

Sew the mitten bottom and top together
With right sides together, sew around the thumb according to the dotted line in the image above.

Step 2

clip the corner and trim the seam
Clip the corner next the the thumb close to the stitching. Then trim the seam to reduce bulk. Repeat the process for the second mitten.

Step 3

sew the front and back of the mittens together
With right sides together, sew the front and back of the mittens. Move the thumb out of the way so it doesn’t get stuck in the side stitches. After sewing, trim the seams and turn the mittens to the right side.

Step 4

sew the Bands in half
Fold the bands in half with right sides together and sew the short edges together.

Step 5

Fold the bands in half
Trim the seam and turn the bands to the right side. Then fold them in half lengthwise with wrong sides together.

Step 6

sew the bands to the mittens
Line up the raw edges of the bands with the base of the mittens and sew through all layers. Then trim the seam and turn the mittens to the right side.

Finished!
