Tutorial: How to Make a Cat Ear Fleece Hat
This tutorial will walk you through how to make a cute cat ear fleece hat. It’s a pretty easy tutorial that only required some leftover remnants of fleece fabric. The free pattern that you can download below is sized for an adult head, but you can shrink the pattern to adjust it for a kid’s size if that’s what you’re looking for.
Supplies Needed:

(all of my patterns include 1/2″ seam allowance)

Step 1

sew the ears together
With right sides together, sew the two cat ears. Then trim the seam and turn them to the right side.

Step 2

Fold the cat ears and baste
Fold the sides of the cat ears in and baste in place.

Step 3

sew the hat pieces in sets of two
With right side together, sew two sets of hat pieces on one side.
Note: I used the safety pins to remind myself which side was the top of the hat (I made the mistake of sewing the wrong side when I made my first sample, oops!)

Step 4

baste the ears to the top of one of the hat sides
Baste the cat ears to one of the fleece hat pieces close to the center top.

Step 5

sew the two sides of the hat together
With right sides together, sandwich the cat ears and sew along the top seam. Then trim the seam and turn the hat to the right side.

Step 6

fold the band in half and sew
with right sides together, fold the band in half and sew to create a loop.

Step 7

fold the band in half
With wrong sides together, fold the band in half lengthwise

Step 8

sew the band to the hat
Lining up raw edges, sew the band around the hat. Then trim the seam and press the band down.
Finished!
