Tutorial: How to Make a Headband With Bunny Ears
Learn how to make an elastic “bunny” headband that ties on the top to create a rabbit ear effect. This is a simple tutorial that can be made with less than 1/4 yard of fabric or some larger scraps of material. I’ve included a free pattern for making the headband that you can download below.

Supplies Needed:
all of my patterns include 1/2″ seam allowance

Step 1

apply interfacing to 2 of the bunny ears
You can use fusible or sew-in, whichever you prefer.
Step 2

sew the two sets of bunny ears together
With right sides together, sew the bunny along the edges. Before sewing, fold over the seam allowance at the ends of the ears (see below)

Step 3

turn the ears to the right side
Clip the curves and turn the ears to the right side.

Step 4

fold casing in half and sew along the length
With right sides together sew the elastic casing in half. Then turn the casing to the right side (trim the seam allowance and use a loop turner to help you turn it to the right side)

Step 5

insert elastic into the casing
Use safety pins to insert your elastic into the casing.

Step 6

sew the elastic to both ends of the casing
Step 7

Insert the elastic casing into both bunny ears
Insert the elastic and topstitch it inside the headband.
Now all you have to do is tie the bunny ears together to complete the headband.

Finished!
