Tutorial: How to Make a Hooded Neck Scarf
This tutorial will teach you how to make a reversible hooded neck scarf. It will work best with cozy fabrics, like flannel or fleece. You can also add a fancy clasp as a closure instead of using a hook and eye if you prefer. Print out the free sewing pattern using the link below and get started with the step-by-step instructions.

Supplies Needed:
(all of my patterns include 1/2″ seam allowance)

Step 1

Sew the hood part of the scarf
Sew the hood pieces with right sides together down to the dot on the pattern. Press the seams open.

Step 2

Sew the contrast fabric hood
Repeat step 1 for the contrast fabric pieces.

Step 3

Sew the hood and contrast hood together
With right sides together, place one hood scarf inside the other. Sew around the perimeter of the scarf. Pivot the needle right at the seam at the back of the hood pieces, and leave a slight gap on one side.

Step 4

Turn the scarf to the right side
Clip the corners, and turn the scarf right-side-out through the little gap you left. Press the scarf flat, sew up the gap, and topstitch all around it if you want to.

Step 5

add a hook and eye
Sew a hook and eye or clasp closure the right sides of both scarf pieces. Try on the scarf for best placement of the hook and eye for you.

Finished!
