Tutorial: Make a Christmas Stocking with Free Sewing Pattern
This is the easiest Christmas stocking tutorial. All you need is some red quilting cotton and a little bit of white fleece fabric to create your own fun hanging stocking. So go choose your favorite festive fabric, download the free pattern below, and get started.
Supplies Needed:
(all of my patterns include 1/2″ seam allowance)
Step 1
sew the stocking pieces together
With right sides together, sew the front and back of the stocking.
Step 2
Trim the seam allowance and turn to the right side
Step 3
sew the tab loop
Fold the tab along the side dotted lines and then fold it in half. Sew the open edge closed.
Step 4
Baste the tab to the back of the stocking
Step 5
sew the band in half
Fold the band in half with right sides together and sew.
Step 6
fold the band in half lengthwise
With wrong sides together, fold the fleece band in half.
Step 7
sew the band to the stocking
Line up the raw edges and sew the band to the stocking over top of the tab. Then trim the seam and press the band up.
Finished!
