Tutorial: Simple Flowers Using Strips of Fabric
These little flowers use strips of lightweight fabric scraps and some creative gathering to make simple and unique flowers. I used them to create little hair clips, but you can easily use these in a fabric flower bouquet, headband, or other type of decoration when you want to give it a floral, spring aesthetic.

Supplies Needed:
all of my patterns include 1/2″ seam allowance
Step 1

fold the fabric strip in half and sew around the perimeter
When sewing together, be sure to leave a gap so you can turn it to the right side. This is to prevent the edges of the flower from fraying, if you are using a fabric that does not fray, you can skip this step and use fabric strips that are half the length.
After you sew it, turn the fabric to the right side and press it flat.

Step 2

Sew a diamond pattern in the center
Hand sew a long basting stitch around the center, making a diamond pattern.

Step 3

Gather the base of the flower
Pull the thread to gather the base of the flower petals.

Step 4

Glue the flower to a hair clip
Hot glue is usually the best type of adhesive for this.

Finished!
