Tutorial: Easy Purse with Wooden Handles
This tutorial will walk you through how to make a simple-yet-fashionable purse using wooden handles. It only requires 1/2 yard of fabric, so this is great for using up leftover remnants of fabric. Print out the free pattern below and get started with the step-by-step instructions.

Supplies Needed:

(all of my patterns include 1/2″ seam allowance)

Step 1

Sew the darts in the bottom
Sew the darts on the bottom corners of both sides of the bag.

Step 2

sew the front and back along the bottom
With right sides together, sew the front and back of the bag along the bottom. Stop at the point where the pattern breaks out.

Step 3

hem the top and sides
Create a double turn hem along the sides and top of the front and back purse pieces.

Step 4

fold the fabric over the handle and sew in place
Fold the fabric over the handle and sew it in a straight line (or as straight as you can get it), encasing the handle. Because the fabric will be gathered around the handle, you will need to straighten it as you sew.

Step 5

repeat for the second handle
Finished!
