Tutorial: Strawberry Drawstring Pouch
Use this tutorial to make a strawberry drawstring pouch that you can use as a goody bag for a spring aesthetic at events or for spring decor. You can make this using leftover scraps and remnants of fabric (as long as you have some red and green!). Download the free pattern below and follow along with the step-by-step tutorial.
Supplies Needed:

all of my patterns include 1/2″ seam allowance

Step 1

sew the strawberry pouch front and back together
With right sides together, sew the two strawberry pouch pieces together around the perimeter, leaving the top open. It’s best to finish the seam to make the end pouch more durable and keep it from fraying.

Step 2

Turn the pouch to the right side
Step 3

sew two sets of strawberry tops together
Sew all the way around the perimeter, but leave the top area open. This part will create the casing for the drawstring.

Step 4

clip the corners and turn the strawberry tops to the right side
Clip all the points and corners and flip the strawberry tops right-side-out. Press the tops for a nicer finish. The top section should still be open (see picture below)

Step 5

Sew the strawberry tops to the pouch
Sew the inner flap of the two top sections around the top of the strawberry pouch.

Step 6

fold the other side of the strawberry top and stitch along the edge
Fold over the seam allowance on the other side and fold it over to cover the raw edges of the fabric. You can ditch stitch or edge stitch, depending on what you are more comfortable with (if you’ve ever sewn a waistband, this is exactly the same process).

Step 7

fold the strawberry top over and edgestitch
This will create the casing for your drawstring.

Step 8

insert 2 pieces of string through the casing
You need each piece of string to go all the way around, through both casings. One string you’ll insert through the left side, thread it all the way around so it comes back out the left. The other will start on the right side and go all the way around so it comes back out the right.
Finished!
