Supplies Needed:
Step 1
Make your belt pattern
I digitized the pattern that I created for this, so feel free to download and print. Just don’t forget to adjust the length of the belt pieces according to your own waist. They should meet at center back and overlap about two inches in the front. So the length of each piece should be half your waist plus 2 inches.
Step 2
cut out your fabric pieces and interfacing
Cut 2 of the larger pieces and 1 of the narrower piece (that one will be folded in half). Do the same for the interfacing.
Step 3
apply interfacing to the fabric
Fuse the interfacing to the fabric pieces according to the interfacing instructions.
Step 4
sew your belt pieces together front and back
Sew the the two larger pieces together leaving the center back seam open.
Fold the narrower piece in half and sew it lengthwise into a tube.
Step 5
clip curves and turn the larger belt piece right side out
Clip the curves of the larger piece and turn right side out.
Step 6
press the seam of the narrow piece to the back
Press the seam of the narrow belt piece open to the back of the belt. This will keep it from showing at all on the front when you’re wearing it.
Step 7
sew a point at one end
Sew a point or curve on one end of the narrow belt and trim the fabric. This side will be the front of the fabric that goes through the buckle.
Step 8
turn the belt right side out and press
Turn the belt to the right side and press, keeping the seam on the back of the belt.
Step 9
turn in the open side of the larger belt piece
Turn the open end of the large belt piece in and press in place.
Step 10
insert the narrow piece and edgestitch in place
Slide the open edge of the narrow belt inside the big one. Make sure it’s centered then edgestitch in place.
Step 11
make the belt carrier
Make this in the same manner as bias tape. Fold each side to the center and then fold the whole thing in half to encase the raw edges. Then sew it closed.
Step 12
sew the buckle and carrier onto the belt
Sew your buckle and the carrier to the large belt piece.
Finished!
