Supplies Needed:
Step 1

Trace your bowl
Place your bowl face down on a piece of paper and trace it around the edge.

Step 2

Add 1.5 inches to the pattern
Use a ruler to add 1.5 inches all the way around the border of the circle you traced. This will give the cover some seam allowance as well as space to stretch over the side of the bowl.

Step 3

Cut out your fabric
Step 4

Sew the bias tape to the right side of the cover
We want to use bias tape for the elastic casing because it works well around curved edges. With right sides together, line up the bias tape with the edge of the bowl cover and stitch along the crease in the bias tape that is close to the edge.

Step 5

turn the bias tape and sew it to the wrong side of the cover
Flip the bias tape around to the reverse side of the bowl cover and stitch it down along the inner edge of the bias tape to create an elastic casing. Be sure to leave a small gap in the stitches at one point so that you’ll be able to insert the elastic into the casing.

Step 6

add elastic
Use a safety pin to guide the elastic through the bias tape casing and pull it to create a domed or bubble shape. Then sew the ends of the elastic together.

Step 7

sew up the hole
Sew up the hole in your casing to seal the elastic inside.
Finished!
