Tutorial: Simple Fabric Flowers Using Small Squares
This quick tutorial will teach you how to make an easy 5-petal flower using lightweight scraps of fabric. These quick flowers are great for decorations that give your home or outfit a touch of spring. I like to use them to create simple hair clips, but you can also sew them to headbands, decorate a purse, or even make a fabric flower bouquet. The pattern I included is just a little square that you fold into a triangle to create the petals.

Supplies Needed:

Step 1

fold your 5 squares in half to for triangles
Step 2

arrange the triangles in a pentagram and sew around the edge
Arrange the 5 triangles with the folded edge on the inside and open edges on the outside. Sew around the outer, open edge with a long basting stitch (I recommend hand stitching)

Step 3

Gather the base of the flower
Pull the thread to gather the base of the flower petals.

Step 4

Glue the flower to a hair clip
Hot glue is usually the best type of adhesive for this.

Finished!
