Tutorial: How to Make a Reversible Fleece Infinity Scarf (with a pocket)
I will teach you how to make a cozy infinity scarf with this step-by-step tutorial. This was made to be a reversible scarf that you can make using 1/4yd remnants of fabric that you have leftover from other projects. I’ve also included instructions for adding a hidden pocket so you can easily store your phone and wallet.

Supplies Needed:

Step 1

place the zipper face down on the right side of the scarf
Place the zipper with the top on the dot. The bottom of the zipper will extend beyond the lower dot, but only sew between the dots. Let the tail of the zipper hang free for the last 1-2 inches. Open the zipper before sewing.
Note: I recommend using an invisible zipper foot for this. It makes it a lot easier to close to the zipper teeth.
Step 2

sew the zipper to the other side of the scarf
Repeat step one with the other side of the scarf. Make sure the zipper is face down with teeth facing inward on the right-side of the fabric.

Step 3

Sew the long sides of the scarf together
With the right sides together, sew down the long sides of the scarf. Do not sew the short ends.
On one side, leave 2-3 inches un-sewn at both ends (pictured below)

Step 4

Sew one side of the pocket
Line up the dots on the pocket with the dots on the scarf. Pin it to the seam over top of the zipper and sew (tip: use a zipper foot with your sewing machine). The scarf is still inside out for this part.
Step 5

Sew the other side of the pocket
Repeat the process, lining up the other side of the pocket and pinning it to the seam on the other side of the zipper. Once sewn, the pocket pieces should look like the image below.

Step 6

sew the pocket pieces together
Line the pocket up one on top of the other and sew around the outside to finish the pocket.
Step 7

Fold the scarf in half inside of itself and sew the ends together
Reach through the scarf and pull one end through the tube so you have right-sides together. Sew the ends together, colors and seams should be matching. (Also remember you still have that little gap in one side that you left open earlier)

Step 8

Turn the scarf to the right-side
Turn the scarf right-side-out through the little gap you left, then press the seam
Note: with fleece, you will probably need to use a pressing cloth (or some kind of cotton fabric) between the iron. This will prevent you from accidentally melting the fleece fibers.

Step 9

Sew up the gap
Stitch the gap closed by hand sewing it.
Finished!
