Tutorial: How to Make a Simple Ribbon Rose
Learn how to make an easy ribbon rose using this simple 10-minute tutorial. All you need is a bit of ribbon and some hand-sewing needle and thread. This tutorial won’t work well with a super thin ribbon, but anything about 1/2 inch or wider will work fine. So grab a spool of ribbon and follow along with the tutorial to make as many little flowers as you need.
Supplies Needed:
Step 1

cut 8 equal strands of ribbon
The strands should be approximately 1.5 inches in length. If you are using wider ribbon, you can also make these strips longer.
Step 2

fold the strands in half on the diagonal
Step 3

line up the ribbon pieces into a swirl
As you line up the ribbon pieces, make sure the bottom half of the ribbon lines up with the top half of the previous ribbon. This will naturally make the pieces line up in a swirl pattern.

Step 4

make a long basting stitch around the outer edge of the ribbon pieces
Hand sew a long basting stitch all the way along the outer edge.

Step 5

pull the thread to gather the base of the flower
Pull the thread to gather the base of the flower petals. Roll the swirl around itself as you go and tie off the end of the thread to secure the shape of the flower.
