Supplies Needed:
(all of my patterns include 1/2″ seam allowance)

Step 1

apply interfacing
Apply the interfacing to one front and one back piece.

Step 2

sew the backing together
with right sides together, sew the two backing pieces. leave a small gap for turning to the right side.

Step 3

clip the corners and turn the right side
Clip the corners so you can get sharp points, then turn it to the right side through the gap.

Step 4

fold over the seam allowance
fold over the seam allowance on both front ‘window’ pieces.
Step 5

sew the window pieces together around the center
with right sides together, sew around the center window of the front pieces.

Step 6

clip the inner corners
Clip the inner corners of the window pieces. Get as close the the stitches as you can get without clipping the thread. You can also trim the inner seam allowance.

Step 7

turn the front to the right side through the window
Push one side through the center window to turn it to the right side. Line up the edges with wrong sides together and toptitch around the perimeter.

Step 8

stack the window on the backing and topstitch
Place the front window on top of the backing and topstitch through all the layers around the outer perimeter. The side on the inside of the tag is open.

Step 9

cut a hole for the grommet
Cut a small hole at the tip of the tag for the 1/4 inch grommet
Step 10

press the grommets in place
Insert the larger grommet piece through the hole on the front, then place the flat piece around it on the back. Press the two pieces together. There are many methods to do this, but as someone with a weak grip strength, I prefer using a grommet presser and highly recommend this method.

Finished!
